Meet the Board

The Friends of Pulaski's Board has loved seeing the Pulaski community rally around our beloved school and appreciates all the support.

The Board of Director positions are voted in each June. Responsibilities include attending monthly meetings, researching and voting on expenditure decisions, and communicating with the school administration and Local School Council (LSC).

The Board

Luann has lived in the Bucktown neighborhood for over 15 years and absolutely loves it. She was super excited when she learned that her neighborhood school was Pulaski and her family could stay in the city!

Luann and her husband Raj have a 6th grader and 4th grader at the school and are thrilled with both the academics and the focus on social-emotional intelligence in the curriculum.

Luann studied economics in undergrad and received her MBA at Depaul University. She worked for many years with Raj in sales until changing careers and becoming a Licensed Acupuncturist. She tries to spend as much time outdoors as possible with her kids and is one of those people who actually enjoys a Chicago winter.

Matt and his wife, Autumn, have been in Bucktown for 3.5 years.  Originally from Texas, they moved to the Midwest 9 years ago for what was supposed to be a “2 year trip to business school and then back to Texas”.  Now they can’t imagine calling anywhere else home.

Matt graduated from Harvard with a degree in Economics.  There, he threw the hammer and javelin on the track team and a was member of the Phoenix SK final club.  He received his MBA with Honors from the University of Michigan (Go Blue!) and is an avid Michigan football fan (to put it lightly).  He has a career in finance where he currently does M&A, serving as Vice President of Corporate Development for a building controls company.

Matt and Autumn are proud parents of a First Grader and preschooler and are heavily involved in volunteering with their kids through Pulaski and sports.  Matt’s advice to new incoming parents is to get involved as a family.  It’s the best way to meet people and your time is a valuable resource to the school.   The Niemczak family feels lucky every day to be part of such a fantastic school community.

Michelle and her husband Scott have lived in Bucktown for almost 15 years. She was excited to jump into volunteering at her local public school nine years ago when her oldest started kindergarten there. Her younger son will be a 6th grader this year. Time flies!

Michelle has volunteered as a Fun Run Sponsors Chairman, coached cheer and basketball along with many other tasks at Pulaski. Lunch help being one of her favorites!!! She is starting her fifth year of work as the Parent Resource Coordinator at Pulaski. Happy to be joining FOP and to work with other parents who are deeply committed and involved. She studied Finance at the University of Arkansas.

Jeremy Sutton is a financial advisor and portfolio member with RBC Wealth Management in Chicago.  Jeremy  graduated from St. John’s University with a major in business management and a minor in Asian studies. He later received his MBA from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University with a triple major in finance, accounting and management.

Prior to a career in finance Jeremy spent eight years as the bass player for Panoramic Blue, a touring rock band based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Jeremy still plays in rock cover bands in Chicago. Jeremy and his wife Sarah met in college and have been together for more than 20 years. They have one son at Pulaski, Jack, and one dog named Gary. In Jeremy’s free time, he loves to cook, read and build electric guitars. Jeremy also loves to travel and has visited every continent except for Australia and Antarctica (but is hoping to get to both someday).

Sonia lives in Bucktown with her husband and twin boys, now 3rd graders at Pulaski.  Their family started their Pulaski journey in Kindergarten and they couldn't be happier with the experience.  She says there is nothing better than living in the community where your kids go to school.

Sonia grew up in Wisconsin (yes, she is a Packers fan but her husband is definitely not) and graduated from Marquette University.  She moved to Chicago where she received her J.D. from University of Illinois at Chicago School of Law.  Sonia enjoys reading, gardening, traveling, and spending time with her friends and family.

Sonia is thrilled to be part of the Friends of Pulaski Board and hopes to continue meeting new families and growing the Pulaski community.

Nicole and her husband Eric first moved to Bucktown in 2007, and after stints in Seattle and New York City, they returned in 2011.  They now live across Western Ave. in Logan Square with their daughter (a Pulaski 4th grader) and son (a Pulaski 1st grader).

Nicole has a BFA in painting from Washington University in St. Louis and a MA in clinical psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology.  She has worked as a behavior analyst in a variety of academic settings across the country, and operated her own behavior consultancy for 10 years.

Nicole adores the Pulaski community and loves to volunteer. You will often find her lunch monitoring, helping out during school hours, and volunteering during FOP led events. She especially loves the opportunity to spend time with her own kids while meeting all of the amazing children who call Pulaski theirs.

Edelson - 070.jpg

Jason and Gambol Edelson are the parents of Lennox, a Pulaski 1st grader, and Sebastian, a toddler. They are new to Pualski and are excited about all of the opportunities that Pulaski and the community have to offer. The Edelsons fell in love with the neighborhood, when friends invited them trick-or-treating one Halloween. As lucky lottery recipients, they hope to move into the neighborhood permanently.

After morning drop off, Jason is a Managing Member of Ona Capital Advisors, LLC. Ona is a boutique capital advisory firm and lean consultancy that helps small to middle market-sized companies raise money and maximize efficiencies. Jason earned a dual MBA in Sustainability and Business from DePaul University’s Kellstadt School of Business and BS in International Finance from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business. He speaks conversational Spanish and some Portuguese.

Gambol is a second grade teacher in Highland Park. She has spent most of her tenure teaching dual language in Spanish.

When not in school or working, the Edelson family loves cooking, trying new restaurants, traveling, and watching Chicago sports teams.

Lezlie and her husband Brett have called Bucktown home since 2007 & Pulaski their school home since 2014. 8 years and 3 kids later they are currently proud Pulaski parents to a 7th, 4th, and 2nd grader.

Lezlie has a BA in Theatre from The Theatre Conservatory at Roosevelt University. After traveling with the international theatre troupe Up With People she spent 5 years in Los Angeles acting and held a 2 year residency with Playhouse West Los Angeles.

She now does some of her best work preforming daily in the role of Mom to her 3 equally dramatic children, while also freelancing in creative design & event styling.

The wonderful Pulaski community has helped create that same small town feeling Lezlie knew she wanted for her family as she grew up with in Tennessee. The Mackie Family encourages the quickest, easiest & most fun way to join this amazing community is to get curious, get involved and volunteer!

Scott and his wife Melissa established their roots in Bucktown in 2005. He has two daughters and a son.  The daughters are in 6th grade and 4th grade.  His son graduated from Pulaski and is now at Lane Tech.  Scott served as the FOP President for three years.

Scott has a BS from the University of Illinois and an M.Eng. from M.I.T., both in Structural Engineering. Still looking for a little more student loan debt, he obtained an MBA from Babson College. After running a multi-concept restaurant company for 13 years, Scott is presently taking time off and is back in school at Harvard studying business analytics.
